Sri Lankan Timelapse

Story

This was shot from a balcony in Sri Lanka over the course of 2 hours. Then put together over significantly more than 2 hours in photoshop. This area of Sri Lanka is famous for its tea and views.

Geeky details:

Camera: Canon 5D MK II

Lens: Canon L 24-70mm, shot at 24mm

Glacial Birds

Story

These birds were shot at the San Rafael glacier in Chile from a catamaran in 2008. The glacier was the most superb colour of blue and sounded like gunshots as it calved into the sea.

Aperture: f/7.1

Battersea Heron

Story

Shot in Battersea Park in South London. There’s a beautiful population of herons that inhabit the lake and surroundings, thankfully they’re pretty oblivious to people and so I could get fairly close to this one.

Lens: Canon L 100-400mm, shot at 275mm

Aperture: f/5.6

Gaza strip wire fence

Gaza strip

Story

Shot from the Northern border of Israel and Gaza this is the first set of barbed wire of 3. The area was beautiful, with pomegranates growing and peacocks everywhere. But overhead was one of the Iron Dome’s blimps, reminding us exactly where we were.

Aperture: f/2.8

Shutter speed: 1/1600 seconds

Dizzie Rascal Live

Story

Whilst I wouldn’t say I love his music, his performance was one of the best of the day at WE Day 2013. I’d been offered the position as one of the photographers for the day and jumped at the chance to even slightly help such a brilliant charity.

Geeky details:

Camera: Canon 5D Mk III

Lens: 18-70 Canon L, shot at 24mm

Aperture: f/2.8

Shutter speed: 1/160 seconds

ISO: 1000

Peruvian Camping

Story

Shot whilst camping on the Salkantai route, at 5000m, in the Andes. The clouds only parter for just long enough to catch this shot and the glacier behind was illuminated by a beautifully full rising moon. The lights from within the tents came from my co-expeditioners settling down for the night in the perishing cold.

Geeky details:

Camera: Canon 5D Mk III

Lens: 18-70 Canon L, shot at 24mm

Aperture: f/3.2

Shutter speed: 15 seconds

Chilean Glacier shot in 2008 by Quin Murray

Chilean glacier

Story

Starting off a regular look into some of my favourite images and the adventure/story behind them.

This was shot in Chile in 2008 whilst on a Catermaran exploring the fjords and glaciers of the coast. The green colour I believe comes from algae fed on nutrients in glacial runoff and the storm on the horizon had already started to disturb the usual stillness.

Geeky details:

Camera: Canon 40D

Lens: 18-200 Sigma, shot at 18mm

Aperture: f/3.5

ISO: 100
